DESCRIPTION:This October\, businesses and educational institutions nationwide will celebrate National Manufacturing Day\, which is designed to encourage the public to enter a high-demand career. A public event\, called Workforce Strong\, will take place at the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton and is free to attend. Business and industry leaders will be at the Workforce Training Center on Saturday\, October 5\, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.\, to share opportunities available in central Arkansas. During the come-and-go event\, attendees can speak with business and industry leaders from the region\, ask one-on-one questions\, and explore opportunities in the job market. Active job seekers may also present a resume and network with employers. The goal of the event is to allow Arkansans the chance to explore career options and learn how together we can build a better workforce. Attendees will have the option to learn about UACCM programs that provide comprehensive training for fields that are in high demand in today's workforce. This includes:   Air Conditioning\, Heating\, and Refrigeration Technology   Automotive Service Technology   Business   Commercial Driver Training   Computer Information Systems Technology   Drafting   Early Childhood Development   Emergency Medical Technician   Industrial Mechanics and Maintenance Technology   Nursing Assisting   Practical Nursing   Registered Nursing   Surveying   Welding Technology According to the National Association of Manufacturers\, the creators of Manufacturing Day\, events like Workforce Strong "address common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show what manufacturing is." Employers interested in hosting a free booth at the career expo can register online at uaccm.formstack.com/forms/workforcestrong. Lunch will be available at Workforce Strong\, and parents are also welcome to bring children to enjoy a kid's activity center while exploring different career options.
