The Arkansas River Valley Audubon Society will meet on Monday, October 28, 7:00 p.m., in the Visitors Center at Lake Dardanelle State Park. The program will be presented by J. D. Gantz, Assistant Professor of Biology, Hendrix College. It is titled "Chillin' with maggots: my experiences studying the only insect in Antarctica". This talk will focus on his time spent in Antarctica studying stress tolerance in the only species of insect on the continent. He will discuss the travel to and from the Antarctic Peninsula, the flora and fauna in the area, and the ecology and natural history of the region.
