The Arkansas River Valley Audubon Society will meet on Monday, August 26th, at 7:00 p. m. The public is invited to attend. The program will be presented by Dr. Dan Scheiman, Bird Conservation Director, Audubon Arkansas. “Colombia: An Endemic Exploration” Explore Colombia, from Caribbean coast to Andean peaks, with Dr. Dan. In March, 2019, he and his wife Samantha went on a bird tour of northern Colombia where they saw many exotic, endemic species found nowhere else on Earth. Dan will share the sights and sounds from this trip. Dr. Dan Scheiman is VP of ASCA. His day job is Bird Conservation Director for Audubon Arkansas, a state office of the National Audubon Society. He and his staff monitor birds and other wildlife, restore wildlife habitat, and help Arkansans improve their local environments. Dan has a B.S. from Cornell University, M.S. from Eastern Illinois University, and Ph.D. from Purdue University. He has been birding for over 25 years. Since moving to Arkansas in 2005 to work for Audubon he has seen 362 of the 420 bird species documented in the state.
